When I was in Brechin to visit the Glencadam
distillery, I thought it would be nice to see if there were any remnants of the
former North Port distillery.
Going through the town you find the sign “Distillery
Road” and a little further there is a sign about “The North Port”, this was one of the 3 ports guarding the city of Brechin. This also
explains the name North Port for the distillery.
Further there are no signs of this distillery
that was mothballed in 1983 and sold for property development in 1990. On the
grounds that once used to be a distillery, you can now find a supermarket.
